That almost brought a tear into my eye, almost. Makes me want to go back but I don't have many friends left there now. One day maybe. The singes was one the best, he passed away several years ago.The best run of my life was in Hawaii, the last time I was there, when I was helping my parents move. It was in the middle of a tropical storm. I was at the foot of the Pali mountains but above sea level. 20 miles and 1 Cliff bar. Looking up the mountain range I could see clear white water, gushing down the "pleats", thin white waterfalls, at least a dozen that I could see. Ran out of water on the return trip but filled my bottles from water that had collected on large leaves. Washed the mud off myself from a waterfall falling beside the trail. Scared off a wild pig. Said my last goodbye, with the mountain range in my back and my eyes towards Kailua and the North Shore. Never been back since, not even for my high school reunion.
that is what I love about running..the memories created by close associations with places we love and cherish....it is what life is all about. We should go there sometime for a run or two....to make new memories.
Hey there's always the H.U.R.T. 100-miler, don't worry they have a 100k option. Held in January, it's almost always wet and slippery.
yay, you're back to blogging!! this is one of my two favorite versions of this song - i've only heard this version on a movie soundtrack, so it was nice to see the video :)
